The doves need to be contained in the dovecote for at least three weeks. There are various methods, but we find the easiest is to attach a homing box to the front of the dovecote (see picture).

This allows easy access when feeding and watering the birds. After three weeks the birds can be let out. By this time you will have a feeling for them - if in doubt leave them a little longer.
